Cisco Swank - Feel/i don’t know why (2 Sided Single)
Cisco Swank Unveils Soulful Melodies: A Review of His Latest Two-Sided Single
For those unfamiliar with Cisco Swank, it may be merely due to the fact that he isn’t a Chicago based artist. The New York artist has been making music for years with one of his earliest releases dating back to December 2018. It does seem like Cisco didn’t start taking things more seriously till around 2022, because that’s when his releases became more consistent. Just in this two year period though, Cisco has gone on to be featured on multiple playlists across DSPs, has headlined his out tour, went on tour with Noname as a keys player, and is seen as one of Complex’s best new artists of 2024.
Cisco Swanks music is a melting pot of jazz, R&B, and hip hop. To say who Cisco’s music is reminiscent of, would be that of Frank Ocean. Cisco released the two song pack on May 15th and with the quick listen of under 5 minutes it makes you want more. In Feel, you can definitely hear the correlation a bit. It starts off a little slower and we get the harmony and singing of Cisco till he starts to actually rap right around the one minute mark. In "i don't know why”, we get an amazing production revolving mainly around a guitar with drums and a piano slowly being added in. With such a melodic and soothing voice, it becomes a little hard to pinpoint what to describe because while listening to the music you get lost and fully immersed rather than trying to dissect the music.
For those who want to hear more Cisco Swank has two albums out, one solo album that was released in 2023 titled More Better which led to him getting most of his attention that he currently has, and his first project Some Things Take Time which was a collab project that Cisco did with Luke Titus. Overall this was a great two song release that Cisco gave to his fans now that he’s off tour, but also something to give to his fans since he hasn’t released and is going on a European tour starting in July.
