GOLDEN CHILD - HATESONNY

Hate Sonny drops off his highly awaited project “Golden Child”.

For a while, I have been hearing snippets and rumors of this project dropping via social media and it’s finally nice to have sat with it for a couple of weeks to give it a full listen and break down.

After countless playthroughs, I'm extremely happy with the final result with “Golden Child” definitely being Sonny’s best work by far! Ways are abundant “Golden Child” is Sonny’s best project, but for me, the biggest take away would have to be a great balance and alternative feel this tape possesses through on-point production and vivid lyrics that paint the theme music to Sonny’s life.

In breaking down this project further, there is a lot of growth, consistency, and authenticity I caught off the jump. It almost feels like Sonny’s first tape “Bad Luck” was so long ago but in a short amount of time Sonny has been able to create a vast amount of high-quality impactful music that speaks to him. I honestly feel like the most impactful track on the project (and also my favorite on the tape) would have to be “Moon Child”. I say this because to the bone-chilling start of the song, down to the vivid storytelling lyrics, this track is a must-listen. It’s honestly crazy to think I got introduced to Sonny’s music by his most famous track “Thirteen” and today my favorite song by him is “Moon Child”! It honestly just shows you his versatility, authenticity, and growth as a Chicago artist that is here to stay.
