Hate Sonny is by far one of our favorite artists here at The Ghetto Flower. His project last year “BAD LUCK” stood out to us so much, we used the first track of the album as our announcement music for our Pop Up shop ad that we recently dropped awhile back. Focusing on his new project, “GOOD LUCK” is outstanding and everything I needed out of Sonny this second time around. From the first track to the last, you can feel the Chicago essence and the real authentic feel of Sonny’s music. The track list is so perfectly laid out, it’s hard to skip a track because of the well balance and great quality of content. Sonny is like no other rapper in the Chicago scene, that’s why I don’t like to compare him to anyone but by listening and dissecting this project, you can definitely hear certain Chicago artists that influenced him. This is great because at the end of the day Chicago doesn’t have one sound. And you can easily tell Sonny doesn’t either. The way he rips apart bars on his self-titled song “SUN” or how he gets on some soulful fly shit on “Holy Grail” with Kari is all different vibes and what Chicago has been built on. Sonny also has great features from Jero, Shayla Jae, Celia Benito, NombreKARI and Drew riddled throughout the 13 strong tracks that add more life to the tunes. So make sure to listen to this dope project from the Chicago Native Hate Sonny.
