Kayo – Until His Burial

Kayo Sets The Tone for 2024 With His Latest Album Until His Burial

If you’re familiar with the Chicago rap scene, Kayo should need no introduction. Having undergone a name change throughout the years, the Chicago native finally found his sound with his last album “It Was Fun While It Lasted.” Kayo is back with a new album to start off 2024. For those not familiar with Kayo, raps a lot about his life experiences and is able to create great double entendres and usage of pop culture references over production that is reminiscent of early OVO40 at times.

Diving into the album, Kayo released “Until His Burial” December 6th, 2023, and the album has 10 songs with a 28-minute runtime. With this album Kayo really started to showcase his lyrical talent and there are multiple occasions where you can hear the hunger to become as successful as he can, in the music industry. Kayo also begins to flaunt his success to those who doubted him in the past. While some may call it arrogance, Kayo doesn’t come off that way one bit, instead, Kayo is more so just showing everyone that his plan is on the right track, and nothing can derail it but himself. Unlike his previous album, Kayo doesn’t have many features on this one, we only have two which come in the 3rd song “Lovepunch” which features the amazing Senite, and the 9th song “Check on You” which features a phone call from Marsha LeFore, Kayo’s late grandmother.

With the release of the album so late in the year, this gives Kayo a lot of momentum going into 2024 and it’s already showing. Kayo has recently been featured on Apple Music’s playlist “The New Chicago” and has even been on Jay Electronica’s radar. Like I said, nothing’s stopping Kayo’s plan but himself, so don’t be late to check his newest project “Until his burial”
