MKRIO - Simulcast Season 1

Get familiar with MKRIO and his latest EP “Simulcast Season 1”, and read about it below!

MKRIO is an artist and songwriter, from Chicago, IL. His signature style features tons of storytelling and infectious melodies which have paved a lane in which he stands alone. Blending a mixture of uptempo cadences, and cinematic productions, Rio creates an exciting atmosphere that welcomes you into his world of music.

One of my favorite things about covering the underground music scene in Chicago is that, you will quickly realize that we are one of the most sonically diverse cities in the world. Whether you enjoy Drill, House, Blues, ethereal RnB, alternative Rap, or Hip Hop, something in the deep cracks and corners of Chicago will resonate with you.

MKRIO is someone who I have had a relationship with for quite some time now, and although we haven’t covered his music in a while on TheGhettoFlower.com, I realized that MKRIO is one of Chicago’s best kept secret. In the past RIO has released numerous tracks with RayMundoLakino and various Chicago artists, but now is his time to shine, in releasing his latest EP, Simulcast Season 1. This project has zero features, which I think is great for RIO, really showcasing his ability to hang on his own in this music game. I now recognize that he needs a-lot more eyes and attention on him, as a local up and comer, this EP is pretty unique and intriguing. If you are a fan of West Coast rappers like, Schoolboy Q, Curren$y, Casey Veggies, this is a project for you. Considering it’s only an EP, the 11 songs come up just short of the 30-minute mark, but they’re quick hits that I became a fan of after tuning in.

“Everyday life inspires me. Social interactions, people watching, going to new places, and seeing different walks of life.  I also draw on the knowledge passed to me from the old heads in my life. Life experiences definitely shape the bulk of my music. ”

In the past, he has released multiple EPs and numerous singles since 2019. He has been recognized for his talent a large number of times, being invited to perform at multiple events such as Skoly Moly Donut Shop, Spring Invasion, Lower Level, and the Licensed to ILL.

“I like to deliver an experience that at first may seem like easy listening but is full of hidden gems and games that may take a few listens to pick up on.”

Rio bravely continues to redefine his sound. Through his live performances, he exercises his strength of bringing audiences closer to the infectious vibrance of his tunes and building a meaningful connection with his fans by giving a more transparent, intimate side to his music.

“My music is my journal, it’s my way of chronicling my life. Everything I’ve experienced, my innermost thoughts, and my deepest desires all get stitched into my tracks…. I spent time figuring out my own sound and my own lane.”

Whether backed by a wall of hard-hitting production or a single sample, Rio delivers art packed with raw emotion, thrill, and energy.
