The Ghetto Flower music blog has been associated with the Chicago music scene for some years now and have come across tons of talented artists that can blend genres and exist within a “grey” area. One of the most recent acts that I cannot seem to stop listening to is Monica Rose. Her latest 4 track EP release titled “Wax” is a special project that proves range and talent.

This ten minute showcasing leaps right at you with a smooth vibe that make Monica’s vocals and wavy productions so welcoming.

Opening track “Whatsup” has a very relaxing, reeling and slower tempo, Monica Rose delivers a more chill sound on this one which is very inviting.

The second record Pressure has to my favorite in this package, Monica is really spitting on this one, she showcase here ability to tap into cadences and catch those punchlines on queue. This is a track about dealing with pressure from all angles and getting out of those sticky situations.

All in all this 4 track EP is very solid. I’d recommend this piece to anyone looking for an introduction to the likes of Monica Rose. I am excited to see what else we may get to see from Rose this year, but this has been a great start with Wax
