A.C. the Ruler – Everything is Fine
The Ever Growing Lyrical Genius from Milwaukee A.C. the Ruler
If you’re someone who tries to keep up with local music outlets there is a good chance you heard of A.C. the Ruler. The Milwaukee artist has been making music under this moniker since 2018 and today we’re going over his latest album titled “Everything is Fine.” In the time between his last album, he has released two EPs and three singles, with one of them being a single called “S.O.T.W” which is the lead single to the album “ Everything is Fine ''.
The album is fairly typically lengthwise with it coming in at eight songs and about 27 minutes and it was definitely an experience. The album is a mixture of melodic-lyrical rapping, with production that is very smooth and mellow. The first song is titled “Of Course” and you can tell from this song that A.C. is very influenced by Kendrick Lamar. At the end of the next song “L” we get a heartwarming conversation between A.C. and his mother as they are talking about keeping people around who genuinely love you. Very fittingly, the next song after “L” is titled “Soul III'' which has the first feature of the project who goes by the name of Malo BRIGADE and based off of his feature, you get a voice that may remind you a little of Earl Sweatshirts.
On “Batta'' A.C. raps about bettering himself in the first half of the song which showcases his storytelling and then the song transitions into a chop-and-screw version of itself before finally transitioning again into this older classic sample of “Morning Sunrise” by Weldon Irvine. The next song is titled “What They Gon Say?/G Baby Raps (Interlude)” and G Baby is A.C. 's younger cousin we hear G Baby rapping over a phone call, and it gives the song a great touch for what the album is striving to be. After that we get the song “FOURWORD”, and we get features from this group named Spider Creek and this artist named LL Cool Daya. It’s a dope mellow track as the artist’s rap using wordplay off of the title of the song. The Penultimate song is called “Cuure”, and this features an artist named Sinceninethree. It continues the theme of the album as it's everything you’d expect if you made it this far. Finally, the last song is S.O.T.W which is the lead single from the album. It has some similar vibes to R&B given the smooth beat. This amazing showcase of lyricism that A.C delivers, shows the listener that there are a lot of artists capable of being top artists and that they just need to be discovered at the end of the day.
