Recently after peeping a snippet of this track fueled by countless reposts and a Missy Elliot co-sign, I couldn’t wait to get the single in my hands to give the track it’s deserved countless playthroughs. My synopsis after strenuous plays on this song is that Brittney Carter and Oliv Blu are a force to be recking with!
Brittney Carter is no stranger to our blog at all with being featured on here countless times and also being on our interview segment “In Ya Face Interview” (which her interview is scheduled to drop sometime this month). I’m happy this time around she has collaborated with another solid artist by the name of Oliv Blu (that I have yet to get in contact and have a convo with) but prior to this drop, I got to dive deep into her music catalog. Both artists have done plenty of work together before, so it’s definitely nice to see Brittney and Oliv excelling to new heights on this single.
“Cold As Us” is honestly perfect! The lyrical excellence of Brittney down to the wonderful warm soulful vocals of Oliv captivates the listener and personally had me invested and wanting even more. I’m happy this song has a 3min playtime with two verses because it honestly was well needed because tracks like this need as much expression as possible. The lengthy play time along with the whole overall feeling of this track really brings me back to a great time in hip-hop when impactful R&B and lyrical rap were at the forefront. It’s nice to see these lady’s from Chicago are taking it to the next level by sticking true to them and making impactful music that soon will reach the masses.
