The Era Footwork Crew - Ghost off 63RD fT. Femdot & Sterls
Foot Working has hit a new heigh with the release of “Ghost Off 63RD”
Foot working culture is deeply rooted in the veins of Chicago. If you have lived in the city or just admire Chicago, you definitely have seen or heard of foot working before. The exciting profession has never died out and has been a steady force in Chicago for decades! What makes foot working so important is the rich culture and the community behind it, which The Era Foot work crew believes in so heavily.
The Era consists of Chief Manny, Stello, P-top and co-founder/ creative producer Bulb. Bulb and The Era have been foot working since they were teenagers and are fully immersed and understand the history. Embarking on a new journey, Bulb and The Era set out to do something that hasn’t been done before, Which is paying homage and recreating the foundation to a coveted foot work dance move called “The Ghost”.
Bulb and The Era have payed homage in several ways to the old foot working dance move “Ghost”. They had an installation/ exhibition called “New Ghost” and a documentary centered around the preparation and the release of “Ghost off 63rd”. With being a fan of foot working and the Chicago music scene, when both community’s collide something always great happens and this time it’s in a form of a single Called “Ghost Off 63RD”.
When first pressing play on this track, you get a knocking beat and a classic Femdot verse that feels just right with the production. The production pays homage to the original “Ghost” song and dance with adding vocals and rhythms from the original. The song feels like a homage to the old and the new, a paring of the past and the future. Other than the track being a great blend of dance vibes along with raw lyrics, Bulb’s verse on the track really stood out to me and is one of the reasons why I’m going to countlessly revisit this track. He plays with a couple of flows and really sounds fine tuned to the beat.
Whether you admire foot working or just seen it for the first time, this track “Ghost off 63rd” has a lot of history behind it and is a must listen!
