OR!ON – Hare (EP)

OR!ON delivers us “Hare” a lyrical experience

I came across OR!ON from mutual friends and always knew his sound was different. With a sound so unique that is rarely heard by Chicago artists, you can immediately tell how different he was. After listening to “Hare” you should be able to hear some comparison to Earl Sweatshirt.

Coming into the project there weren’t really any expectations since OR!ON has released projects with strict instrumentals since he produces a lot of his own stuff or if it was going to be more of the rap side of him. In the first track “Love Hard'' you get the rapping side right off the back as OR!ON comes in rapping “Whoever sold you that suit had one hell of a sense of humor, I thought this was heaven, but there I’m in a drooped stupor, later on, this evening I’m sure I’ll be feeling looser, Cuz the tension gets relieved, the games consumption, not consumer.” As you can tell from the first four lines, you get nothing but bar after bar and that’s how the EP is.

The sports nerd in me came out after the line “Do it till I’m 85, 95, guess who this Richard Dent jerseys signed by” which is off the 3rd track titled “CCC.” To go a bit more in-depth, that line represents OR!ON talking about how he plans to never stop doing what he loves hence “Do it till I’m 85, 95” which also represents the Super Bowl MVP of the 1985 Chicago Bears, Richard Dent, who happened to wear the number 95.

The project is only 3 tracks with a running of about 11 minutes so it’s a quick listen but makes you want more. If you’re interested in finding new artists that are more passionate about their delivery and wordplay, OR!ON will definitely be an artist you should check out!
