Ronnie Rage - [anti.vers] (Album)

Chicago melodic rapper Ronnie Rage (R.A.G.E. – Rise Above Generic Expectations) builds out his growing catalog with his sophomore album [anti.vers].

[anti.vers] follows up the 2021 project Born Outside and sees Ronnie Rage juxtapose real-life experiences with the fantastical nature of outer space, which can be heard through the production and seen on the album cover.

Ronnie’s newest album [anti.vers] plays with an out-of-this-world trap sound, featuring space-like productions carrying the listener into a different galaxy. Ronnie Rage is very versatile on each of his sons, featured on his latest album. This piece of work is what some may call an “out-of-body experience”. The energy just converts the sounds and phonics into emotion and feeling that is indescribable.

I like that Ronnie Rage is able to give you so much in one song, energy, vibes, emotions, punchlines, story-telling, lyrical ability, and the productions are just the icing on the cake. Whether you’re in the mood for turning up, chilling, or cruising in the whip, [anti.vers] has something for you. I recommend you get hip to Ronnie Rage because I can guarantee he will be a star one day.

The 11-track project is full of Instagram caption lyrics that show off Ronnie’s wit, lines like: “I just flew to Houston just to see if you could dance” on “Onyx” or “Plug must work for Uber with how fast that n***a pull up” on “exodus.” Production-wise, the record leans heavily into the electronic trap, with thumping bass, laser sounds, and 808s all main characters.

Ronnie dropped two singles leading up to [anti.vers]: April’s “exodus” and May’s “tiptoe/snottynose.”
