Sebastian Kamae & femdot. – “Falling Out of Love”
A Resurgence of Lyrical and Mellow Rap in Chicago
Introducing Dutch producer and engineer Sebastian Kamae, collaborating with the talented rapper, femdot. The two formed a bond over music during Kamae's time at Soundscape Studios in Chicago. Kamae's latest single "Falling Out of Love" is the second release from his upcoming project, "Chicago Sessions," which highlights his work with various artists. If you're not familiar with Kamae's sound, it resembles that of acclaimed producers, The Alchemist or Mach-Hommy. Get ready to be blown away by Kamae's latest project.
If you’re familiar with the mellow hip hop scene in Chicago, you should know exactly what to expect from this track. We have femdot. rapping over a very soothing beat that Kamae creates which reminds you of something J Cole or Kendrick Lamar might rap on. This is due to the funky bassline and jazzy chords that Kamae uses. As the title of track states, femdot. raps about falling out of love with things that he once was in love with. Right at the start of the hook, femdot. talks about falling in love with stains, girls from past relationships, success, lust, and just about everything but himself. Femdot. takes you on this lyrical trip which feels as if you were right with him in the booth. The length of the song is great as it comes in at 3 minutes and 20 seconds, but it honestly feels a lot shorter.
With the resurgence of more lyrical rap coming from Chicago due to Pivot Gang, Saba, nombreKARI, and J Wade this is a great breath of fresh music. It’s going to be fun to see what happens these next few months because this is great music that can be blasted all throughout summer while at the beach or a kick-back. Hopefully one day we can get a whole project from these two collaborators because they definitely leave you wanting more.
