‘Til Death Do We Ball’: SONNY’s Latest Album Captures Life’s Highs and Lows

SONNY has been making music for years and with his recent album release, he’s been gaining a lot more traction. To help promote the album, SONNY held a sold out release party at Classicks Studios leading into the release, while also releasing two singles and a music video for the album. The two singles being TIME AGAIN and LOGS. The album isn’t much different from other SONNY releases, so if you’ve heard his music in the past, you should know what to expect. For those new to SONNY, you can describe his music as a mixture of dreamy and uptempo production while rapping about life experiences.

SONNY released ‘Til Death Do We Ball on May 23rd, 2024 and the album has a runtime of about 40 minutes. The album has 14 songs on it with four of the songs being previously released. The album has features on six of the songs which include NombreKari, BandHunta KT, Brooklyn Skye, Dreamer Isioma, Senite, DrewisABoss and Ine’ J. On the intro song PRODUCT, SONNY raps on an angelic uptempo beat as he talks about being a product of his environment and past decisions. SONNY goes on to put one of his biggest singles BACKWOODS AND HOUSE SHOES which was released back in 2022, as the second song of the album. On the song, NEW NUMBER, it has an amazing bear switch at the last minute of the song and it leaves the listener wondering why SONNY didn’t extend this beat and make it a whole different song. As for the standout song of the album, that would probably be PLAY YO PART, which features BandHunta KT. On this song you get an uptempo, head nodding type of production as both artists compliment each other very well. 

While the production value is amazing on the album, it seems as though it overpowers the vocals at times which makes it hard to hear what SONNY is saying. As a whole though, the album is a great listen and one of the better albums that has been released this year so far.
