AUSAR

AUSAR

Fresh off the release of his debut album, “I Now Know”, the city’s own Ausar will be our special guest this Friday night!

For Ausar, creating memorable experiences for his audience has been “about making moments.” He says that he applies that piece of advice to everything he does. The rollouts that you do should be moments. The music itself, there should be moments in songs,” he says. Hailing from the Southeast Side, Ausar’s first performing experience was as a kid in church, singing alongside his mom. Gospel continues to have a heavy influence on his musical style, along with much soul and r&b.

Live performance is special for him because he enjoys seeing how his music is resonating with people, in person. This summer he was able to scratch an item off his bucket list by hitting his first festival stage at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash. That same week he also opened up for Joyce Wrice at Subterranean. “Summer Smash was incredible, I had a great time, but that Joyce Wrice show was different,” he reflects. “I think I enjoyed it so much more because we really got to connect with everybody who was there.” He says he walked away from that intimate crowd of maybe 200 with 70 new followers.

Like many other Chicagoans, Navy Pier was a staple in Ausar’s youth. He’s gone there for a number of school field trips and even attended prom there, so to now come back to perform on stage is a very cool moment. He’s thrilled to perform some new music at the show and says that he loves platforms like TGF because we do a good job of finding and highlighting talent, regardless of what stage in their career they may be in.
