The Return of Miss Olivia: Back With Her New 2-Track Pack “R”

After taking a deep dive into Sherren Olivia’s catalog, she’s been around the industry since about 2014. Having only been featured at that time, Sherren wouldn’t release her first single till a year later in 2015 on Soundcloud. Since then, the 31-year-old artist has gone on to have numerous performances at places such as Navy Pier and Lollapalooza just to name a few. To describe Sherren’s music, you have to look at her inspirations because this recent release R gives off a 90s R&B vibe. A few of Sherren’s inspirations include Brandy, Aaliyah, and Jill Scott.

R was released on January 25th, 2024, as a two-song pack. The first song Without You (The Way I Love You) starts off with a DJ introducing Sherren and the song which was ever so common back in the 2000s. You most certainly hear the 90s/00s R&B inspirations even with the production. The production alone almost takes you back to that time period as it sounds like something timberland might’ve produced. The second song is titled Company, and this song has a smoother, almost seductive type of production. Based on the title alone, you should be able to tell that Sherren is seeking the company and energy of a significant other.

With R being the first release since her previous single back in 2022, this was a great way to start the year. After taking 2023 off, I wouldn’t be surprised if Sherren released an EP or an album this year, so definitely be on the lookout!
