Austin2Glocks – Back Against the Wall 2 (Album)

Austin2Glocks Shows Us What Happens When Your Back Is Against the Wall Too Long

Austin2Glocks comes to us with his latest project “Back Against the Wall 2” which was released September 4th, 2023. This is sequel to his last project that he released back in November 2022. As someone who didn’t have much background knowledge on Austin2Glocks besides his “Snowfall” single, there wasn’t much to go off of.

Deconstructing the project, Austin2Glocks gives us nine songs with Million Hours being the single released back in June 2023. To understand what you’re going to be experiencing from the project as a whole, you’re going to be getting more of a Detroit style rap based on the smooth, mellow, almost villainous type of production and flow. The project isn’t that long as it only comes in about 20 minutes.  The project comes along with four features with all but one coming from Austin2Glocks collective called Thraxx Gang.

Track Highlights:

  1. $100 Cup FT. OPFRMGSG- In the song we hear Austin rap “I can’t spill my cup it’s a $100 cup, I can’t lose my mind it’s a million-dollar thoughts” on the hook. OPFRMGSG gives some memorable sports references as well.

  2. CASTLE FT. TRE5HG - This song has some more personal lines as Austin raps “What can I do to make me really happy, soon as I get it then it’s gone, I’m getting tired of reacting” and “Momma raised me to a king so imma buy a castle, dropped outta school, I’m in the streets I couldn’t flip my tassel” throughout the hook.

  3. NiKE - Similar to Detroit rap music, Austin lets the instrumental ride with about a minute and 20 seconds left of the song.

  4. Dummy - Includes funny NBA referee reference with “I call my dog the ref cause he don’t go nowhere without his tec” and Austin ends the song as if he was hanging up a phone call which was a unique way to end the song.

  5. Million Hours - This song was freestyled, and it fits the project perfectly as a filler track and can later been seen as a cult classic later on.

  6. Head of State - Austin is rapping about what he’s looking for in a woman if they want to meet up with him over a head bopping beat.

  7. Cash App - Talking to Austin, he said “My manager sent me the beat when I was in the studio, and I wanted to pay homage and either give nostalgia for people that already f*** with the song or introduce it to people who might not” as I asked why he covered Juvenile’s Back That Azz Up for the hook of the song.

  8. FROZONE FT. Hardbody Rozay and ALLiKnow - Throughout the song we get lines from the three as they talk about drip and being flash and a memorable one is “I get fly but I aint no paper plane get high like a propeller, She get sloppy with that zombie brain and classy like professors.”

  9. Rip Pop - It’s a great ending song and it ends with Austin basically telling his mom that he’s going to make her proud and that a deal is coming soon.

All in all we can only hope Austin fulfills what he’s trying to accomplish because he’s a great artist so it’s going to be fun as he perfects his craft.
