MVTE – Bad Influence (Single)

BAD influence: Mvte’s latest release making waves in the music scene

After going through some of the submissions we’ve recently, MVTE was an artist that made an impact. The up-and-coming artist from Chicago has such a unique voice that some might say sounds a little like Doja Cat. MVTE even acknowledged this when she released a single in 2023 titled “Discount Doja.” MVTE can be seen as more of a rapper, as a lot of her music is more rap than any other genre. With that being said, it seems as MVTE wants people to know her as a rapper and lyricist first. While she has gone into the house music lane with one of her last singles “Mama’s House”, she immediately came back with Bad Influence as the next single.

MVTE released Bad Influence on January 24th, 2024, and the song features M.E.R.C. and is produced by Theisy. The song starts with a smooth piano sample that sounds like it can be an intro to a movie or show. Not only did MVTE release the song, but she also released the music video of the song the same day. The music video was directed by NFO Films and shows both rappers as they are in a booth, in what might be a restaurant.

With the momentum MVTE had coming into 2024 with her single Mama’s House that was released in December, and then released Bad Influence in January, MVTE has a lot of attention on herself. Not only did she do that, but she packaged all of her singles from 2023 and released them as a full project a few days after the release of Bad Influence. She did that for those who never had a chance to listen to them yet.
